Someone's decided to put up a new streetlight pretty much right in my bedroom window, and my room's now lit up like daylight after dark, despite obviously having the blind down. I don't know if there's meant to be any guidelines about not putting streetlights too close to people's windows, but looking around I certainly don't see any other streetlights as right up in someone's window as this. Anyone know who's in charge of streetlights? City Council? County Council? I need to have a word with someone about this..

Kev - it depends where the streetlight is located...the only new ones I've seen going up at the moment are along the Guided Busway - if that's the location, then you need to contact the Guided Busway/County Council - they should be able to install a shroud around the light to prevent the light falling on your window. I understand that they've previously agreed to do this for a streetlight next to the stores in Histon.

If not on the CBG, where?

Hope that helps?

Hi Nick, thanks for the response.
The area in question is the Graham Road entrance from king's hedges road... they put up streetlights all along the section of guided busway there, and then way off to the side of the busway stuck a solitary extra streetlight against the front of the flats, for no reason I can fathom. It's not exactly what you could call on the busway, just somewhat close at hand.
It went up the same time as the busway ones though, so I assume its the same department responsible. I guess I'll give the county council a call...
