It is certainly 'expected' that the majority of the fence will be removed at some stage. The section from the east end (by the Guided Busway) to about the east end of Topper Street Play Area is intended to be (semi) permanent and will remain. The section from Topper Street Play Area to the A14 junction at Histon will be removed once satisfactory building infrastructure is installed along the A14 edge of Orchard (Arbury) Park. By "satisfactory", it is mean that the buildings will act in place of the noise barrier. Be aware that it's quite likely to be 2-3 years before there are buildings in these locations as the demand for commercial property is in a slump like the residential housing market. As and when planning applications are submitted for these commercial areas, the community council will give significant consideration to the effects of noise. And of course any member of the public can also comment on a planning application. At this stage, I think it's a 'possible' problem that we should be aware of and investigate/challenge as and when it becomes a 'probable' problem. Thanks, Nick |
